Cover Letter quick tips!

Friday, March 14, 2014

Today on Lets Get Working I have a few quick tips on how to write a cover letter.

The cover letter needs to show that you are really interested in the job you are applying for.

Link your experiences to the role that is being advertised and get to the point.

The cover letter should only be 3 to 4 paragraphs long.

Be positive and optimistic to grab the attention of the reader.

Do not repeat your resume or send off a uniform letter as it will be put in the ‘boring/not really interested in this job’ pile.

I’ll now read you an example of an Advertisement:

We are looking for a dynamic and positive team member to join us in our store.

Successful applicants will be working with a dedicated team of staff selling Sterling Silver Jewellery and semi precious stones . Merchandising stock and ensuring that the store is maintained to a very high standard.

Retail selling experience is essential, along with a very strong work ethic and a positive can do approach to life and work.

We are looking for a person who enjoys "getting in" and seeing the efforts of their hard work , be it selling or displaying. A person who enjoys actually working with customers and assisting with choices will really enjoy this job....

This is an example of a Cover Letter:

Dear Jack Sterling,

I am writing in response to your ad seeking a Sales Team Member who gets in and works hard and with pride at your jewellery store.

As you will see in my attached resume I make a good match for this job with my 4 years experience and achievements in a similar role.

I look forward to meeting you to discuss how I can compliment your team.

Martha Siede

Until next time,
Enjoy the journey!
Martha!
