Attention Grabbing Ways to Get a Job!
Friday, February 21, 2014Today on Lets Get Working I would like to highlight ways of grabbing the attention on employers to get yourself a job.
Firstly, make your resume stand out:
One story I recently read shared how a guy wrote 50 different qualities on post-it notes, arranged them on a piece of cardboard and gave it to the receptionist of the hiring person along with his paper resume. An hour later he got a phone call and a job interview
Secondly, like the business on facebook/LinkedIn:
You will be able to see what the employee is up to and get a vibe for the culture of the business. Also, write an Ad for yourself on Facebook and market it to the businesses you want to work at.
Thirdly, do your research on the people hiring you:
Check them out on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and check out their interests, etc. to know how you can impress them at the job interview.
At one of my job interviews I mentioned that I admired the company’s values and integrity and I believe it helped me stand out and I got the job.
Fourthly, use YouTube to get some attention:
With YouTube you cane send a thank you to an employee who gave you an interview or you can even make up a 2 minute video to sell yourself to potential employees!
Fifthly, think outside the box:
Advertise yourself in unexpected places, and yes, you are going to have to step out of your comfort zone. Nothing is too outrageous if it works.
If doing what everyone else is doing is not working for you – do something creative, fun and different!
Good luck!
Until next time,
Enjoy the journey!
Martha!
