How to Get a Job – Understanding Yourself

Today on Lets Get Working I would like to talk about how to get a job by understanding yourself and next week we’ll look at understanding the job market.

1. Make sure your resume is up to date and as complete as possible.
It needs to say:

Who you are?

What can you offer?
Be honest
Proof read your resume for errors
Keep the formatting plain and classic
Make your name and contact details stand out

2. Develop your pitch on yourself
Keep it short – 30 seconds to 2 minutes
This spiel can help you when you are networking as well as in an interview.
So, how would you answer the question ‘Tell me about yourself?’

Talk about your work background or your work interests

Your accomplishments

Why you want to work at that particular company (how you can help them)

What are your future goals?
