Today on Lets Get Working I’d like to share some interview mistakes that you should try not to make.

Don’t show up late for an interview – wasting an employers time does not give a good impression and you probably won’t get the job. You may not even be interviewed at all if you miss your timeslot.

Don’t wear jeans to an interview – jeans say you are not serious about the job. Wear black pants and a buttoned shirt or dressy top to show you are serious.

Don’t ask about money or holidays – this says that all you care about is the money, not the job.

Make sure your facebook/twitter, etc accounts don’t have questionable content – many employers check your social media statuses to see how you live your life. Clean up your sites before your interview.

Don’t talk about your personal life – keep answers short and to the point and make sure its relevant to the job at hand.

Don’t bad mouth a former boss – Your new boss may be friends with your old boss. Your new boss may think you will talk badly about them too.

Don’t chew gum – It is distracting and makes you look unprofessional.

Don’t answer your phone in an interview – your phone should be off or on silent and should not be seen at all in an interview.
