Job Choices
Friday, June 13, 2014Now that you have done your research, its important to do some planning. Today on Lets Get Working we are going to look at the kinds of jobs you want to apply for and put a list together.
Its good to have three types of jobs you are willing to work in. You need to also have the right certificates, experience and skills for the jobs:
For example:
Your first choice may be: Child Care Worker/Nanny
Your second choice may be: Administrative Assistant
Your third choice may be: Sales Assistant
Now starting with your first choice brainstorm ways of finding opportunities to work in this field.
Research Child Care Centres, After School & Vacation Care, Pre-Schools and any other place that may take care of children.Find agencies that match Nanny’s up with familiesAsk friends or family if they know of anyone looking for a Nanny.Look for ads in the paperJoin Job agencies/Websites that advertise child Care/Nanny adsJoin forums that relate to children and child minding.Any other idea you may have. Its good to get your feelers out and do that research by looking at places close to home, then out a bit further and out a bit further still.
Once you have a list of places you would like to work at, you can:
Call in with your resumeRing them and chat to the owner/hiring person and ask if you can send them your resume and who to send it to.Once you send your resume and cover letter ring to discuss meeting after 3 days if you have not heard from them.If you are applying for jobs through ads make sure you meet all the criteria and ring them back in a week if you do not get a reply. If you are going through an agency ring them up and see what they are up to in find you a job.
Once you have exhausted your first choice of job, you may need to fall back on your second or third job choice and start back with brainstorming, etc with each choice.
Good luck and don’t give up. Chase every lead and keep at it. Persistence pays!
Until next time,
Enjoy the journey!
