Overcoming Shyness
Friday, October 4, 2013On Lets Get Working I’d like to share ways of overcoming shyness if you are a shy person.
Just Do it – force yourself to talk to people. With practise it will become easier. If you see uncomfortable situations as ‘challenges’ you will cope with the stress and anxiety better.Relax, get comfortable – watch a funny video before. Get yourself smiling to relax and feel good.Set simple goals – for example – I will speak to one stranger per day.Get help from your outgoing friends – ride on their chatter and join in.Embrace the nerves – if you are scared or uncomfortable – do it anyway. If you’re nervous it means you’re alive. Most people feel nervous.Make it about them, not you – focus on the other person. Ask them questions and get them talking. This will take the pressure off you.Don’t think of yourself as a ‘shy’ person – if you drop the label you will not be in that box anymore.Until next time,
