Resume No No's
Friday, March 7, 2014Welcome again to Lets Get Working. I often tell you about what to put in your resume but I rarely tell you what not to put in your resume. So, today I will be focusing on things you should not put in your resume.
Things to not put in your resume include:
Your political opinions, religion or a photo of yourselfTypos - 50% of resumes have spelling mistakes or grammatical errors – so make sure you check, recheck and get someone else to check.Hobbies unless they relate to the job you are applying for.Lies – did you know that 96% of employers have admitted to embellishing the truth. The truth will come out eventually – so don’t lie.Keep your resume to 2 A4 sheets – too much info is booooring.Don’t put too many different fonts on your resume as it is distracting and detracts from the information.Do not use cliche’s or jargon as the words make your resume looks like all the others and as though not much thought has gone into putting it together.Until next time,
Enjoy the journey!
