Today on Lets Get Working I would like to discuss the importance of business awareness as part of your skill set.

Whatever industry you would like to work in, its important to know what it is made up of.

For example: If you want to work in the hospitality industry:

How many cafe’s, restaurants, are in your area?

How busy do they get?

What food do they sell?

What is the age range of their customers?

When does most of the hiring happen (summer/winter)?

What are they looking for in a worker?

If you are wanting to work in business, for example

Where are you most likely to find work. i.e. are most businesses in the city?

What products do they sell? Insurance, accounting…

Who are their clients?

What other businesses are looking to compete with them?

What can you bring to the business to make it better?

These are just a couple of questions to research when looking at where you want to work.
