Tips to Improve your Networking
Friday, August 30, 2013Today on Lets Get Working I will share some tips to improve your face-to-face networking skills.
1. Network with a purpose - Your goal should be to meet people, see what they do for work and share what skills and abilities you have and what you are looking for.
2. Smile and be friendly - Don’t be too series, smile and chat about lighter topics before focusing on your goal.
3. Listen first, then talk - Ask questions about them, then slowly turn the conversation to you and share your goals, etc.
4. Take along some cards with your name and contact details - Have your name, phone number and email on cards so you can hand them out to people who want to contact you and so you can be remembered.
5. Circulate - Don’t just stay with the first group of people you meet, move around the room and meet lots of people.
6. Follow up - Email the people you meet within a couple of days, remind them of your goal and make the email personal by mentioning something you have discussed.
Until next time,
Enjoy the journey!
